The amazing animations of Mystery Skulls

The internet is a wonderful place to meet new artists and to share one’s work in various media. The American indie pop and electronic music group Mystery Skulls had their songs turned into a series of videos, animated by Mystery Ben.

The first video was made in 2014, and at the moment there are four videos of what has become a web series. The animations follow a group that, at first glance, bears many similarities to the gang from Scooby-Doo. They consist of a boy and a girl who are very similar to Velma and Shaggy who drive a van, have a dog and investigate amazing and mysterious places. However, videos that seem innocent have a deeper story than they seem. This one demands attention to the details and the plot, because until now, it is not known who are the antagonists of it.

Although it is a series of flash animations, they have a high quality in their production, with bright colors and clean lines. Even a nice detail is how the heads of the characters move to the rhythm of the songs.

If you like short, well-done animations and meeting new musical artists, it might be a good idea to check out Mystery Skulls. The videos can easily be watched in 30 minutes, and the fifth one is already in production, scheduled for 2022. If you are interested in animated webseries, we already wrote about another quite popular internet animation, Helluva Boss.
