Have you ever wondered what it’s like to have a partner with a visually impaired person? I’m going to guess the answer is no. And it is exactly on this topic that the webcomic Flawless is about.
In this article, I am going to introduce you to this story that is still little known, but is gaining fame on the internet and is quite promising.
Interesting facts about the work
Flawless is a comic in broadcast, published since 2015 on the Webtoon platform. The creator, Shinshinhye, is from Indonesia, and therefore most of the content related to Flawless is in the language of that country. At the moment, the author is publishing another work called Arum Daun.
As far as Flawless is concerned, the comic doesn’t yet have a Spanish translation (you can read it in English by clicking here). However, it has gained popularity in many parts of the world lately, including Spanish-speaking audiences, even though it only has 16 episodes published in English at the moment.
What is the story about?
The plot involves a girl named Sarah Francesca, a student who out of nowhere meets a blind boy. She immediately thinks that the boy must need a lot of help, and she treats him gently.
However, the boy, named Elios Zanquen, surprises her. Not only does he not behave the way she expects, dependent and helpless on her, but he demonstrates a very good understanding of what he is doing around her and good control of her senses.
After that, Sarah begins to fantasize about Elios, and what it would be like to have a relationship with him. However, on her side, the boy is not convinced of her intentions. What follows are quite curious and intriguing events, which may make you think about how we, as a society, perceive people with disabilities.
Why is it worth reading?
Honestly, the story is quite surprising in its first 10 chapters. While many may expect it to be the conventional beautiful love story between a person with and another without a disability, the author decides to go quite a different way.
In addition, Elios is a character that generates a lot of curiosity, and is very charismatic. He instigates us to want to continue reading, and discovering more about his personality.
Finally, if you want a quiet story to read, with good characters and pretty drawings, quite conventional from what is usually seen on the Webtoon platform, Flawless may interest you.
