Wi-Fi printers Go to the Start menu and click Settings, Devices, then Printers & scanners. Select Add a printer or scanner and wait for your printer to appear in the list, then select it and hit Add device. If Windows doesn’t find your printer, select The printer that I want isn’t listed and follow the instructions.

Make sure the printer is near the Wi-Fi router, paper is loaded in the main tray, and that it is turned on. On your Windows computer, open Printers & Scanners and delete the printer. Open the HP Smart app, and sign in. If you do not have HP Smart, download it from 123.hp.com or your app store, and create an HP account.

Sometimes the printer may not be connected to the network, or your computer’s firewall might be blocking the printer. Also, if the printer is shared through another computer on the network, the settings on that computer may need to be modified.

Restart the printer and try again. Unplug the printer from an outlet. You can plug it back in again to see if it works this time. Check if the printer is properly set up or connected to your computer’s system.

Check that all printer cables are connected properly and be sure that the printer is turned on. If everything is connected properly and powered up, go to the computer’s “control panel” from the “start” menu. Choose “printers” and be sure that your printer is selected as the default.

Check the printer connection status: Make sure the wireless signal is on, and the printer is connected to the same network as your computer or mobile device. If your printer has a light next to a Wireless icon or button , make sure the light is on. If it is off or blinks the printer is disconnected from the network.

Right-click the wireless network icon, click Open Network and Sharing Center, click Set up a new connection or network, and then select Manually connect to a wireless network. Click Next to continue. Enter the required network security information. This is the information you used when you set up your home network.

Try printing from another device While you may assume that offline issues are due to printer errors, a flawed connection can be device-specific. Try connecting to another computer and see if your issues clear up. If it’s possible to print from another device, you know that the problem is most likely not the printer.

Locate the external switch for the wireless function. Most HP laptop models are fitted with a switch on the side or front of the computer than can be used to turn on the wireless functions. If not on the side or front, the switch may be above the keyboard or on one of the function keys at the top of the keyboard.

Place the printer near the Wi-Fi router. Open the Setup, Network, or Wireless settings menu, and then select Wireless Setup Wizard.
