Have you ever imagined transferring an object from your environment to a program? Now you can achieve this purpose thanks to the ingenuity of a programmer with whom we can “cut and paste” in real life.

Photoshop has been considered as an essential tool in many aspects. With this tool we can edit photos and even create artistic designs. But have you ever wanted to bring a real object, from your environment, to the program for editing? Now with this new tool we can do it.

An idea of Cyril Diagne

Cyril Diagne is an artist, designer and programmer. He has managed to do magic with Photoshop and do something that he was worth futuristic character movies.

How have you managed to bring real objects into Photoshop? The answer lies in augmented reality and machine learning technology. The merger of both, in addition to resorting to a smartphonehas made it possible to carry it out.

“This is an augmented reality and machine learning prototype that allows you to cut elements from your environment and paste them into image editing software. I’m using Photoshop, but in theory it could work in any software », Diagne explained on the GitHub portal to demonstrate that it was not false. A trick that has come to impress the company that develops the software of image edition.

The perfect combination

We already know that it is with the combination of two technologies, but it should be noted that the real secret is in the machine learning technology called BASNetwhich is capable of recognizing an object when taking a Photography.

The BASNet tool is combined with another call OpenCV SIFTwhich is what allows synchronize our computer with the smartphone. This is used to detect where the mobile camera is pointing and then paste the object in the file.

Keep in mind that he also created an application for his smartphone when transferring the images. It does it in record time: 2 seconds to take the real image and 4 seconds to capture it in Photoshop.

As you can see, the use of augmented reality and technology machine learning is serving for create apps faster and easier with the aim of helping users in their tasks.

What’s next in the world of augmented reality?
