FAQ

Word will not insert watermark?

Go to File>Options>Advanced and scroll down to the “Show document content” section of the dialog and uncheck the box for “Show picture placeholders”. I just found out that on certain pages the watermark will not show up yet on others it won’t.

You asked, how do I turn on watermark in Word? On the Design tab, select Watermark. In the Insert Watermark dialog, select Text and either type your own watermark text or select one, like DRAFT, from the list. Then, customize the watermark by setting the font, layout, size, colors, and orientation.

Amazingly, why does my watermark keep disappearing? If you insert the water mark in the main body of the document (instead of the header footer) then what you describe could happen if the paragraph to which the graphic is anchored is deleted, or moves to a different page. In the first case, deleting the paragraph will delete the anchor, which will delete the watermark.

Also, why won’t watermark show up on first page? Watermarks are built in the header and having different header settings can make them disappear on other pages. They are simply graphic elements that are in the header.

Similarly, why is my watermark not printing? Try going into the Watermark dialog window to make sure Transparency is set to 0% & see if using a different shade/color improves the situation… Also, some printers don’t like the Diagonal option. If using it try Horizontal instead.
